Medicare & Private Health Rebates for Exercise Physiology in Melbourne

Exercise Physiologist providing Medicare and Private Health service

Looking for an Exercise Physiologist in Melbourne who offers Medicare and private health rebates?

Did you know that you can get exercise and lifestyle guidance to manage injuries and/or chronic health conditions, and potentially reduce your out-of-pocket costs?

What Does an Exercise Physiologist Do?

As an ESSA Accredited Exercise Physiologist, I design safe and effective exercise programs for:

  • Managing chronic diseases (e.g., diabetes, heart disease, osteoarthritis)

  • Injury rehab and post-surgery recovery

  • Improving strength, mobility, balance, and energy

  • Reducing pain and preventing flare-ups

  • Supporting mental health and lifestyle change

All sessions are evidence-based, completely tailored to you, and delivered 1-on-1 in person in Armadale, Victoria.

Here's how you could claim a rebate on Exercise Physiology services, either with myself or any Accredited Exercise Physiologist in your preferred area.

Option 1: Medicare – Chronic Disease Management Plan (GPMP) If you’re living with a chronic medical condition (such as arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, or persistent pain), you may be eligible for Medicare-subsidised sessions through a GP Management Plan and Team Care Arrangement.

How it works:

  • Book an appointment with your GP to discuss your eligibility for a Chronic Disease Management Plan.

  • If deemed appropriate, your GP will write a referral for Exercise Physiology under a Team Care Arrangement (TCA).

  • Medicare will subsidise up to 5 allied health sessions per calendar year (shared between EP, Physio, Dietitian, etc.).

  • I'll give you an invoice of service with my Medicare Provider Number and you’ll be able to claim a rebate for each session (currently $58.30).

Option 2: Claiming Exercise Physiology through Private Health Insurance Many private health insurance plans include Exercise Physiology under extras cover, which means you can claim a portion of each session fee, depending on your policy.

No referral is needed — you can book directly with me. After session completion I’ll provide you with an invoice to submit to your provider (online or through their app).

Most major health funds cover Exercise Physiology, including:

  • Bupa

  • Medibank

  • HCF

  • nib

  • AHM

  • Australian Unity

  • and more.

If not sure if you're covered, either double check your policy or call your provider to ask if Exercise Physiology is listed under your extras.
